I am a tutor with an extensive background studying and teaching math and English. I attended Tennessee State University and Marygrove College. I have more than eighteen years of teaching experience. I am comfortable tutoring students in reading, writing, grammar and mechanics, public speaking, phonics, math, and English. I am also available to help students develop effective study skills. I am able to tutor math at the elementary and middle school levels. My philosophy as a tutor emphasizes the fact that every child has the potential to learn and excel academically. However, sometimes it is necessary for some children to be provided with instruction that is both personalized and unique. My experience as a teacher has taught me that students learn best when they have some type of internal motivation. This drives me to develop personal relationships with my students because it is much easier for me to reach them if I can figure out what motivates them. Most of my experience as a tutor comes in the form of teaching students at the elementary and middle school levels in literacy, reading, and mathematics. In my free time, I enjoy writing, listening to music, basketball, football, motivational speaking, golf, and going on nature walks.
